Well. We're home in one piece. I've already unpacked. I didn't leave a lot of undone laundry, and the general house isn't a wreck, so I'm pretty well primed for having a good week. I've hit my reset button on staying focused on being a woman who does good things for her community and takes good care of herself.
The visits at Horizon weren't as bad as I had thought they might be, mostly because Janet introduced us to Barry and Michelle, although we were running out of conversation by the end of the last night.
I think some business things may have taken place that were productive, but I'm not sure.
Angela sent me a text and let me know that she and Tori and Kennedy had landed safely in California. I imagine they're all sleeping late today!
Andrew is supposed to come by and see me this morning. It looked like Annette and Brittany had a good race.
~Andrew did come by and sat with me for a little bit and we had a nice visit. He said that some funny things have happened.... that they have a lot of meetings but that there are some he doesn't have to go to, so he doesn't. He went to the staff cafeteria at lunch time and all the one and two-person tables were taken, so he sat at a booth that was big enough for eight people. He saw a couple of guys looking around for a place to sit, one of them wearing an Alabama shirt. He said, "As long as you're wearing that shirt, you can sit with me. No one else is coming." So they sat, and before long the booth was filled, plus two, with men in their twenties, interns, working on the same projects Andrew is was working on. He was talking to them about how to get through it all, etc., and he told them he was old. They didn't see how he could be. He told them he was closer to 50 than 40, and they asked him where his gray hair was. I could tell he enjoyed the opportunity to share some of the things he's learned with people who are coming up in his same field.
When I sent Noah his postcard last week, I told him about a man I saw rowing backwards. He said, "Interesting! There has to be some type of muscle movement technique behind the reasoning that they paddle backwards?"
Vivian: If y’all are wondering how tired I am, just know I fell asleep at 6PM and woke up just now in a full panic thinking I was late for my 8AM shift. Chill, Vivian, you’ve only been asleep for 3 hours. It’s 9PM.
